International STEP-NC Demonstration, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, June 2010
On June 16-17, 2010, the STEP Manufacturing team (ISO TC184 SC4 WG3 T24) will hold the next round of STEP-NC international testing at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
This round of demonstrations will focus on the use of STEP-NC for distributed planning, simulation and machining:
- Machine tool models
- CNC Kinematics
- PLC Kinematics (tool changer etc)
- CNC simulation
- Detect excessive material removal
- Predict energy consumption
- Networked process planning
- Link programs using STEP Resource Locators (STRLs)
- Enable staged process planning, simulation and machining
Demonstration planning and technical discussions are being held on bi-weekly conference calls. Contact us if you would like to participate. If you plan to attend the meeting, please contact Fred Proctor (frederick.proctor@nist.gov) to take care of badging as follows:
- U.S. citizens must to provide their name, then pick up sticky
badges at the visitor center. You will need a government-issued photo
ID.
- U.S permanent residents (green card holders) will need to provide name country of citizenship, employer or affiliation, and work address. You will need to bring your green card to check in - a passport or driver's license is not sufficient.
- Everybody else must fill out the NIST 1260 form [80k, pdf] and send it to Fred Proctor via email or fax to 301-990-9688. The information you need to provide is highlighted in yellow. You will need to bring your passport to check in.
